Things which are making me happy

1. I just got a package from my mother sent from Nepal. (She's been there working in an orphanage before heading off to India for a bit). It had the softest, nicest shawl and a CD of dance remixes of Bollywood songs, which are very lively and cheery.

2. My paper is done and sent off and I won't think about it for a bit

3. Off tonight to favourite restaurant to eat and drink lots

4. I ordered Meteor Gardens from ebay after reading [info]dangermousie's journal. It sounds like my type of melodrama. Though the feathered hair scares me a bit

5. Long weekend and thus no wrangling of students over the next few days.

6. New fannish obsession: Jim and Pam in the US version of The Office. They're so sweet and repressed and there is looking and longing but no getting (yet). And it really is great and funny.

7. Plans afoot with some friends to go soon to see Humko Tumse Pyar Hai when it opens in Artesia. It looks like great melodramatic fun.

In short I am a happy camper despite the mad quantity of work I have to do this weekend.

Yes, the feathered hair is present. Also, DMS' hair before he gets it fixed, in the first 5 or so episodes, is scary. But it's on purpose and they poke fun at it :)

The clothes are iffy in the beginning but do get better, too.

I have also bought Mars, so maybe the feathered hair will balance itself out in some giant cosmic event.

1) I love shawls. I have a ton already, but can never resist buying more when I go to India - they're so soft and warm and colorful, and never fail to cheer me up. Also, so jealous of your mother!

2) Congrats on finishing!

4) What's Meteor Gardens about? Curious now.

Meteor gardens is a Taiwanese soap set in a university which [info]dangermousie has been watching and enthusiastically posting about. I have a shameful love of melodrama so I am willing to endure much feathered hair if it gives me my fix.

I am jealous of my mother as well - she goes to much more exotic places than I do, without any qualms and just always seems to have the best of time, despite missing trains and planes and other disasters.

And I am glad to have finished. I started writing an epic rant about writing it for [info]naljwrimo2006 but petered out.
